Core banking modernisation cuts settlement time by 71%
A regional bank replaced a batch settlement process with an event-driven ledger, without a single unplanned outage.

Nine-hour batch replaced by continuous processing.
Across an eleven-week parallel run and cutover.
Every transaction reconciled before cutover.
Overview
Cobalt Bank ran settlement as an overnight batch job that had grown to nine hours and regularly overran into the trading day.
The challenge
Any change to the batch risked corrupting the ledger. Nobody on the current team had written the original system, and regulatory reporting depended on its output.
What we built
We built an event-sourced ledger alongside the batch, ran both in parallel for eleven weeks reconciling every transaction, then moved traffic across in stages.
Results
Settlement now completes continuously. Reconciliation exceptions dropped sharply and the reporting pipeline reads directly from the event log.
